Dirk Reichardt (*1964) is a German composer, music producer, and pioneer in the field of medico-functional music. He has achieved significant recognition as a recipient of the German Film Award for Music and as a film composer for numerous successful German films, e.g. Keinohrhasen (Rabbit without ears), Zweiohrküken (Rabbit without ears 2), Honig im Kopf (head full of honey), and many others. Reichardt is the founder and managing director of jamXmusic, a Hamburg-based production company specialising in acoustic brand management, radio imaging, and customized music productions.
early years – keyboard keys
Dirk Reichardt demonstrated his musical talents early, beginning accordion lessons at the age of six. After quickly mastering the piano and participating in numerous youth band projects, he was supported by his district music school through a “pre-professional specialist training” program. This allowed him to continually gain new experiences and skills, shaping his future in music creation. Among his early milestones was the legendary band Fex, which earned a place in history with the “most mysterious song of the internet.” In the mid-1980s, this marked his last live band engagement as a keyboardist. From then on, Dirk dedicated himself exclusively to studio work and music production.
In the 1990s, he embarked on an adventurous journey through Germany’s music scene as an arranger. He collaborated with renowned artists such as Bonnie Tyler, Blue System, Fun Factory, and Roy Black, and worked alongside celebrated producers like David Parker (Taco), Dieter Bohlen, Luis Rodriguez, and Danny Shogger.
entering the radio world with jamXmusic
In 1998, Dirk Reichardt founded jamXmusic, marking a major milestone in his career. Since its inception, the music production company has supplied over 150 custom radio branding productions to stations across Germany, Europe, and even the United States. By the 2000s, the Hamburg-based audio specialists at jamXmusic had established themselves as one of the most successful German producers in the field of radio branding.

In 2004, Dirk Reichardt gained recognition as a film composer, earning the prestigious German Film Award in Gold for his music in Erbsen auf Halb 6 (Peas at Half Past Six). His long-standing collaboration with filmmaker Til Schweiger resulted in blockbuster hits such as Keinohrhasen (Rabbit Without Ears), Kokowääh, and Honig im Kopf (Head Full of Honey), whose soundtracks broke records.
A particular highlight? The Keinohrhasen soundtrack achieved platinum status, making it the only German film soundtrack to do so. Dirk’s soulful piano compositions have since become his signature style.
special Expertise – Kurative sounds and the future
Since 2020, Dirk Reichardt has focused on curative (also known as medico-functional) music. Together with Hamburg-based physician, TCM specialist, and author Dr. med. Roya Schwarz, he has developed Audio Resonance Therapy (A.R.T.), combining sound stimulation and mindfulness meditation into a holistic approach that has been successfully implemented in therapeutic practice.
And further studies? Yes, the composer continues to refine his skills. Since 2024, he has been pursuing a degree in Orchestration and Composition for Film and TV at the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
